West Usambara Women Education (WUWE)
WUWE is the short form of the West Usambara Women Education. This is a CBO for engendering natural resources activities and empowers women in the community around the West Usambara ranges. WUWE works in partnership with TaTEDO in the process of disseminating knowledge and skills of improved energy technologies. WUWE intends to respond to the constraints of fuel wood fetching drudgery and drying up of water sources due to deforestation. The organisation is also striving to replace traditional inefficient Usambara Stoves with more efficient mud stoves called Ukombozi Stove. Capacity building is through training target groups on how to construct improved woodfuel stoves (Ukombozi Stove), training women on kitchen management to women in the households and promoting agro-forestry practices to increase soil fertility and woodfuel in the community around West Usambara. The target groups are stove artisans, tree nursery owners, households, and institutions.
