KAKUTE Limited (Kampuni ya Kusambaza Teknolojia) is a Tanzanian-based company which was established and registered in 1995 to develops, and disseminates appropriate technology to urban and rural customers. The company has been in operation for the past 10 years and offers a project design and management in a wide range of appropriate technologies, including water and sanitation, post harvesting technologies, renewable energy and low cost housing. KAKUTE Ltd. is a company based in Arusha, Tanzania with a social justice agenda to reduce poverty through real business opportunities. KAKUTE is a Kiswahili acronym meaning ‘Technology Promotion Company’. A leading force in design, manufacture and marketing of productive technologies for farmers and urban consumers.

Mission of KAKUTE.

To protect the environment while raising the social and economic well being of Tanzanians through promotion and training of appropriate technologies, focusing on disadvantaged farmers’ and women groups in rural Tanzania. In order to accomplish its mission, KAKUTE seeks to establish urban and foreign markets for goods produced in rural areas of Tanzania. This will not only improve the economic situation of Tanzanians living in rural areas, it will also prevent migration to urban areas and help to protect the environment in rural Tanzania by encouraging alternative fuels and promoting organic products.

KAKUTE Limited has been very successful in its efforts to promote appropriate technology for rural market in Tanzania on commercial basis. It is envisioned that the secret to success for the future market would apply the capacity building in the area of market development and promotion. There are several technologies appropriate available for Tanzania rural market. Technologies related to water and sanitation, energy and environmental protection, rural transportation, food preservation and processing and low cost housing are very important to be promoted and adopted by rural community in Tanzania.
