FOO DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (FODA)

 Foo is among the Machame villages, situated at the distance of about 12 Km from Machame Junction on the north of Arusha - Moshi main road. The village till the mid seventies had a high degree of development in various areas like education, economy, health and social welfare but the trend in those areas after that period has shown a gross decline in development especially household economy and particularly sources of income. The diminishing trend of income for villagers at Foo was attributed to decline in coffee production which is the important cash crop in the village coupled to other factors like population growth, land scarcity and decline in soil fertility. 

Due to this predicament therefore, there is a need for the villagers to initiate other sources of income in order to sustain lives of people in the village. Some of these initiatives include provision of abundant food, education, community health etc. In order to alleviate these constraints, Foo villagers decided to improve unity among themselves by establishing their own institution which will act as agency for their development. The institution established is called Foo Development Association (FODA)

MISSION

The mission of FODA is to revive, sustain, propose and improve economy, education, health, socio-cultural environment and infrastructure of villagers of Foo by involving intellectual, professional and entrepreneurial contributions aimed at solving the targeted priorities.
