Centre for Agricultural Mechanization and Rural Technology (CAMARTEC)
CAMARTEC is an organisation that produces and disseminates agricultural implements such as (among others) the harrow planters, nut shells, oil press machines, wheel barrows, pulling and oxen carts, water harvesting tanks and brick making tools. The organisation in addition promotes improved household stoves, community stoves, biogas and solar energy facilities. It works with other organisation to promote and disseminate knowledge of improved wood and charcoal cook stoves
CAMARTEC's mission is
to develop and disseminate improve technologies suitable for agricultural and
rural development. The aim of the Centre is to improve the quality of rural life
through development, adoption and dissemination of appropriate technologies in
of agricultural mechanization, water supply and energy. The organisation ensures
that production and extension of services is used to develop technologies for
the community.
To carry out and promote the carrying our of applied research designated to facilitate the designing, adoption and development of machinery and equipment suitable for use in agricultural and rural development.
To develops and manufacture approved prototypes, components and cultural techniques and technologies and evaluate their suitability for adoption and alternative use in rural agricultural production.
To perform tests on all types of machinery and equipment intended for use in agricultural and rural development in Tanzania and to publish the results of each test.
