Integrate Modern Sustainable Energy Technologies with Business Development Services Fasten the Productive Uses of Technologies in Rural and Urban Area.

For many years TaTEDO   has been promoting rural energy technologies in various District and Regions in Tanzania. Mwanga district is among of the districts which are benefiting with TaTEDO, s sustainable rural energy technologies.

 

Regarding to the Vision and Mission of the organization, which intended to free people from   poverty and advancing the access to sustainable energy technologies in Tanzania, TaTEDO providing Business Development Services (BDS) to entrepreneurs who are dealing with energy technologies which are promoted by TaTEDO.

 

Many entrepreneur are happy full to gate this BDS which is currently being provided to rural energy entrepreneurs freely. Different rural energy entrepreneurs in Mwanga district have been trained, coached and counselled on Business Development by BDO and many of them have many positive impact since the started to get BDS training. Hatibu Mshana(wood fuel stoves entrepreneur), Obadia Izaki Mosi(charcoal stoves entrepreneur), Huseni Musa(baking oven entrepreneur) and Christopher Yesaya or Mohamed Mlokole(solar pv system entrepreneur) are some of the entrepreneurs who have got positive benefit from rural energy technologies and BDS in Mwanga district.

Hatibu Idd Mshana is the one of the entrepreneur who is very well known in Mwang district due to his positive effort in environmental conservation in Mwanga, he is much known as environmental man (bwana mazingira). He started to construct improved wood fuel stoves in 2008, but he became much active in 2009 July. Hatibu is already registered his business as CBO NO.178 this CBO known as “Kambi Mpya   Camp Site”. He uses various marketing strategies to awareness creation to the community   through distribution of brochures ,TaTEDO's posters, villages meetings and direct visit (door to door marketing) to targeted market such as school and house holders.

 

Hatibu Mshana said that, since January 2009 to date he managed to construct 41 improved wood fuel stoves in Mwanga district, many of these stoves have constructed in institutions like school and hotels. From November 2009 to date he constructed 21 stoves to the house holders and institutions.

 

The following are some of secondary schools which are enjoying the uses of improved wood fuel stoves; Minja secondary school, Msafiri International school, Kilomen secondary school, Asha Rose Migiro secondary school, Kindoroko secondary school and Chanjale secondary school.

All   professionally marketing strategies got from training which conducted by TaTEDO's BDO.

The estimated construction of stoves per month is three stoves and some months he can construct four stoves. The cost of one institutional stove of two cooling space it range between 700,000 to 800,000, this cost include materials and labour charges because he use his materials and then he refunded after finishing to construct the stove.

 

Benefits he got from running his small business of contrasting improved stoves to villagers in Mwanga, District;.

  • He feel good to see people are using Morden energy technology
  • His life standard is risen up
  • He is known to villages and district governments.

Mr. Hatibu has contacted the DED of Mwanga to request for three visible open space to construct wood fuel stoves to be used for demonstration, for sake of awareness creation to the people of Mwanga district. He expect to go out of Mwanga district to find another market of his business.
