Dar es Salaam's International Trade Fair happens annually on the 7th July and this was the 34th DITF which was organized at Mw. J.K Nyerere Trade Grounds started on 26th June 2010 up to 9th July 2010.

The main theme of this event was KILIMO KWANZA (Priority to Agriculture) and TaTEDO supported this theme through promotion of its services, biofuel products, post-harvest agro-processing, solar drying, and agro-forestry through demonstrations in order to bring awareness to the stakeholders.

Different sustainable modern energy technologies were displayed in the TaTEDO pavilion where by different people visited and got informed from TaTEDO’s staff.  TaTEDO also displayed different information materials, models of the huge modern technologies promoted by TaTEDO and her partners in the community and Audio-Visual of the activities carried out by TaTEDO in rural and urban areas.  Among the displayed   modern technologies which were of high interest to the viewers were Energy Services Platform (ESP), Sustainable Energy Enterprises Centre (SEEC), Biodiesel Reactor, Climate Change and Biofuel.

During exhibition, TaTEDO worked jointly with her partners and granted them opportunity to display their modern energy technologies and other services provided from their organizations.  Among the partners who worked jointly with TaTEDO in this event were SEECO, SESCOM, INVORTECH and SEDC.  These are social enterprises which undertake businesses of modern energy services in urban and rural areas.

TaTEDO is giving high priority to the energy solutions which will increase energy access to majority of people in the urban and rural areas.   Sustainable modern energy services have been encouraged to reduce households and business expenditure in the fuel purchase at the same time reduces affect of the environment especially the global warming effects.

TaTEDO is also critically examining the role of sustainable modern energy in poverty eradication. One of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) is to reduce the existing situation of poverty all over the world.  TaTEDO is  also striving to reduce poverty by supporting people in the communities to get capacity and invest in the existing  business opportunity resulted  from production and use of  sustainable modern energy services such as the Sustainable Energy Enterprise Centre(SEEC), solar PV installation, stove production, stove construction, biogas plant installation, charcoal production, rural electrification, etc. In doing so sustainable modern energy will  be the best way to tackle  the environment problem, increase the business opportunity, save time, efficiency use of  energy, reduce cost and finally to poverty abolition.

This is not the first time for TaTEDO to receive award like the one received this year. TaTEDO received other awards through DITF in the past and in 2003 became the second winner in environment conservation award in the Coast Region The first recognition and award for TaTEDO was UN Habitat II Prize on Best Practices for Renewable Energy and Woodfuel Technologies held at the Istanbul Conference in Turkey in 1996.
